Really enjoyed this one. The story has some great twists that caught me off guard in the best way. I also loved how it brought 1940s Egypt to life—it felt vivid without being heavy. The main character is flawed, but you can’t help rooting for her. The writing is smooth and easy to get into, but still has this quiet elegance. Descriptive without dragging on. just enough to paint the scene. If you're into historical fiction with heart and a few surprises, definitely give it a try.

The novel took me to the late 1940’s in Egypt, with the unrest and challenges of a regime change. A beautiful story of love and mystery. Kept me hooked to the end.

I really loved this book and its fascinating glimpse into 1950s Egypt. It was a beautiful companion and I finished it in a few days. I found myself rooting for the protagonist and her friends right up to the end. The twist in the end was unexpected and makes the book really interesting.
